Our History

Williams Cutlery has been independently owned and operated in San Jose for over 60 years. The original store opened in San Francisco in 1890. It was purchased by Mr. Williams in the 1950's, at which point he opened up several locations around the Bay Area. Today, our location is the only remaining Williams Cutlery associated with the former chain. As one of the last remaining brick and mortar knife shops in the Bay Area, we can offer what you often can't find online or at large chain stores - dedicated, friendly staff who will use their extensive product knowledge to answer your questions and help you find exactly what you're looking for.

At well over 100 years old, this is the sign that hung on the walls of the original shop in San Francisco. If you look closely at its corners, you can see the damage that was done to it during the 1906 earthquake.  We are proud to have this piece of history hanging in our store to this day.
